Max Lewinsohn (Chairman & Chief Executive Officer)
Max played tennis as captain of the British junior team before training as a chartered accountant, and then becoming chairman of a public company in his late 20s. He has some 35 years experience at board level in the financial services and energy sectors, having invested in and guided six public and many private companies in Europe and the US.
Previous directorships include The Children’s Medical Investment Trust plc (investment), Wingate Investments Ltd (property development), Southwest Resources plc (oil and gas), States Petroleum Inc. (oil and gas), Card Clear plc (financial services), Film Finances Inc. (film finance), Williams Hunt Holdings Ltd. (Asia Pacific oil and trading), Kar-Tainer International Inc. (shipping), and Eneco Inc. (energy conservation).
Eric Robinson (Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel & Company Secretary)

Eric is a former member of the securities section of the Utah State Bar, was previously listed in Utah’s Legal Elite (Corporate Law), Utah Business Magazine, and is AV Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell. He graduated from the University of Utah with honors with a B.S. degree in accounting and he subsequently passed the CPA exam (unlicensed). Eric also graduated from Vanderbilt University with a J.D. where he graduated Order of the Coif and acted as a Managing Editor of the Law Review.
Eric previously acted as chief financial officer, general counsel, and an owner of Eckman & Mitchell Construction, LLC. This commercial construction company had revenues in excess of $100 million in 2007-08, and worked on projects in approximately 18 states during Eric’s tenure. Eric also acts as chief financial officer and general counsel to a genetics research company.
Dr. Tom Zirkle (Chief Technology Officer)

Tom's industrial experience demonstrates research and development innovation, coupled with principled technical leadership and management spanning numerical process and device simulation, to strategic portfolio-based technology business case studies and investment justifications. Technical work and collaboration has resulted in 7 patents and 31 publications. Tom's technical flexibility is seen in his successful R&D leadership of a wide range of technical disciplines including numerical simulation, device engineering, characterization and modelling, and integrated passives.
After moving to a business group, Tom spearheaded key design projects directed for first application on new technology nodes requiring coordination of design teams, process integration teams, manufacturing teams, software enablement teams, and marketing. Based upon his strategic technology business case studies and investment opportunities, Tom was assigned as business group lead to manage the transfer of technologies into foundries around the world.
Mike Gardner (VP of Engineering & Operations)

At Texas Instruments, Mike designed advanced thermal and heat transfer systems to optimize system energy. Mike has built a three-prong career reputation: he builds high-performing technology teams; he masters new technologies quickly; and he is an experienced programme leader who delivers high-impact solutions on time and in budget. Mike is the author of 13 patents, 30 publications, and is a frequent speaker with 26 public engagements.
Mike has an Entrepreneur Program Certification from the University of Chicago (2003); Master of Business Administration from Regent University (1994); Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University (1985); and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Arizona University (1979).
Tristan Lewinsohn (Director of Business Development)

Using his experience in media, Tristan then worked as a freelance media consultant and journalist, and was appointed executive director of aka.tv, an online publication covering the digital media/technology sector, with over 15,000 subscribers in more than 100 countries.
He was subsequently appointed a consultant to Eneco, undertaking various marketing and business development assignments, including the establishment of relationships with numerous major companies which may become customers of MicroPower.
Tristan has also worked on the business planning and implementation of various start-ups, including several technology-based ventures.
Dr. Victor Sevastyanenko (Senior Scientist)

Throughout his career, Dr. Sevastyanenko has held teaching positions in a wide variety of topics in physics, in addition to managing research laboratories. He has authored more than 100 scientific papers and three books, including the key paper on this technology which appeared in the Journal of Applied Physics in January 2005, and has also received numerous honours for his scientific and educational accomplishments.
Dr. Jerry Chen (Principle Staff Engineer)

Jerry has been working in the semiconductor industry for 15 years, with a PhD in physics from University of Texas at Austin. His most recent position was Director of Technical Marketing where he was responsible for developing and defining new semiconductor inspection tools and specifications for Lasertec.
Previously, he worked in the areas of process engineering, research and development, fab manufacturing, technical marketing and management positions with semiconductor companies such as Motorola Semiconductor, Samsung Austin Semiconductor, and DuPont Photomasks. Jerry is the author of 4 US patents and 20 published papers in semiconductor conferences and magazines.
Robert Kilbourn (Associate Scientist)

Robert is a recent graduate, having received his Masters of Science in Physics in December 2009 and a Bachelors of Physics in 2007, both from Texas State University.
Previously, Robert performed research with Dr. Carl Ventrice with a focus on surface science and scanning tunneling microscopy. He performed different characterization techniques including temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and low energy electron diffraction (LEED). His thesis project consisted of designing and fabricating an ultra high vacuum scanning tunneling microscope with atomic resolution. Robert has previously worked at Texas State in the molecular beam epitaxy and photoluminescence lab as a technician, and is also experienced in ultra high vacuum systems and equipment set-up and modification.
Amanda Gregory (Associate Scientist)
Currently she holds a BSc and an MSc in Physics, both attained at Texas State, with minors in Gender Studies and Mathematics, and has extensive experience in working in laboratory environments.
Amanda has presented many times on thin film growth, and is an author of a paper entitled "Modeling of Plastic Deformation in Ferromagnetic Thin Films". She has also been the recipient of several awards, including the Durrenberger Scholarship for Women in Science and the TSAPS Student Presentation Award.

Tim Kenny (President)

Prior to joining QBE, Tim was vice president and controller of The Reinsurance Corporation of New York where he directed all corporate financial functions for the company. He has also served in management roles at Unione Italiana Reinsurance Company of America, Metropolitan Reinsurance Company and QBE Europe Insurance & Reinsurance Company.
Tim is also active in many charitable organizations, in particular as the Chairman and Co-Founder of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which has raised over $90 million in seven countries over the past ten years to aid the research and treatment of childhood cancer.
A graduate of the University of Limerick with a Diploma of Business Studies, Tim has also studied in London (Institute of Credit Management) and New York (College of Insurance). Tim started his career in Shannon, Ireland and London before relocating to New York in 1987.
Tim resides in Northport, Long Island, with his wife Lynn and their three children.
Aage Figenschou (Non-Executive Director)

He obtained a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1974 and has since accumulated a wealth of experience in the oil and shipping industries, having been managing director of Naess, Jahre Bulk Inc., Bulls Tankrederi AS, Mercur Tankers ASA, Dual Invest ASA and Swan Reefer ASA, and the former head of the Norwegian Ship Owners Association.
Aage is currently a director of B.Skaugen AS (a family-owned Norwegian shipping company), Sintercast AB (a Swedish quoted technology company in the automotive industry), and Bluewater (a quoted insurance company for marine underwriting). He is also Chairman and director of many investment companies in the shipping and oil service sector syndicated and managed by Pareto Private Equity, as well as being the Chairman of Sagex ASA, a small oil company.
Former directorships include Smedvig ASA (Norway’s largest drilling contractor), Color Line (Norway’s largest ferry company) and Chairman of Astrup Fearnley (parent company to one of the largest brokering companies in the world).
Aage is also the former Chairman of the Norwegian Shareholders Association.
Gordon Stewart (Non-Executive Director)

Gordon holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as law and commerce degrees. He practised as a tax lawyer for a number of years. He is also member of the International Bar Association, the Institute of Directors, the International Fiscal Association, and the International Tax Planning Association.
Gordon advises on international corporate structuring and tax planning, and is the chairman of Apple Fields Limited, a public company based in New Zealand.
He lived in the Cook Islands from 1986 to 1988, and in Menton, France between 1988 and 1991. His business interests lead him to travel regularly to Europe and elsewhere, and he currently resides in New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington.
David Rourke (Assistant Company Secretary)

He is currently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Following qualification in June 2006, he moved to Bermuda where he is employed by Atlantic Corporate Management Limited (ACM), a financial and business management company specialising in the international shipping and energy industries.

Dr. Dan Marshall, PhD (Chief Thermoelectric Strategist)
In addition to his business savvy, his in-depth knowledge of semiconductor materials and broad understanding of numerous related technologies make him ideally suited for creating the technical strategy and guiding the development of the MicroPower team. His technical judgment has proved immensely valuable in the creation of miniature portable power systems based on micro-scale combustion, and will streamline the development of the MicroPower Chips. Dan is the author of 20 issued US patents, over 20 peer reviewed publications, and is a seasoned public speaker.
Dan has his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (1996 – with emphasis in entrepreneurial coursework taught by Stanford School of Business professors), Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (1991), and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Dr. Rebecca Forrest (Consultant Scientist)

In 2008-2009, Dr. Forrest received the UH Teaching Excellence Award for Instructional/Clinical Faculty, one of only two awards per year university-wide. Dr. Forrest earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Houston before carrying out post-doctoral work at the University of California at Los Angeles in the Department of Materials Science, where she earned her Ph.D.

Simon Glossop (Funding Advisor)

Simon was involved in the start and development of the credit derivatives market especially with the complex documentation and liquidity issues that existed initially, and has worked at Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Royal Bank of Canada, the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and recently at Straumur. Whilst at EBRD, he worked on numerous carbon projects for the bank. He was also a Non-Executive Director for the internet/software start-up Credit Market Analysis Ltd for six years and managed it up to the point of sale. Simon has a bachelor honours degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of London.
